Archaeological Museum Villa Abbas

The Villa Abbas Civic Archaeological Museum is at 10 minutes walk from the B&B (800 meters), housed in a building of the old town which dates back to the first decade of the nineteenth century.

Right inside, you can admire finds from the Neolithic to the late medieval period, exhibited in eight rooms, on two floors. The museum houses finds, which date back to the Nuragic, the Phoenician, the Roman and the Medieval period, which come from from all over the surrounding area: from the ancient coastal city of Neapolis to the village of San Sperate.

The windows show the objects of everyday life of the past, the materials used to provide food, to defend themselves, to build houses and defense structures. The museum contains almost all the artefacts found in the archaeological excavations of Santa Anastasia, numerous skeletons from the Roman era tombs, from an ancient necropolis located on the outskirts of the village. And finally, the finds of the Middle Ages from the overlooking Castle of Monreale.
